The story of our deli begins long before today — with our family’s roots at Hotel Mirabeau, built in 1975 by our grandfather Meinrad Julen and now run by the 2nd and 3rd generation of the Julen & Reichenbach family.
Among Meinrad’s seven siblings was his sister Maria Julen. A bold, unmarried woman in the 1960s, she opened Zermatt’s very first grocery shop — selling exotic fruits (earning her the nickname “z’Frichte Mari”) and luxury imports for travellers.
Fifty years later, we revived her pioneering spirit by creating our own modern-day Comestibles shop combined with a restaurant concept. Marie’s Deli is our tribute to her women’s power and innovation — celebrating a time when homemade food mattered and fresh products were a true luxury.
The deli offers homemade delicacies that can be enjoyed on-site, taken away, or delivered directly to your home. The menu ranges from classic home-style dishes to French-luxury specialties, depending on the season and the host family’s inspiration. There is also a famous Sunday Brunch, desserts & patisserie, a wine bar, and a specialty shop, making the deli a holistic place of enjoyment.
Dishes can be picked up or delivered within Zermatt — even in eco-friendly jars (WECK jars) with a deposit system.
For private occasions or large events — even with a food truck — the deli can be booked. Ideal for chalet guests or event catering.
